Jason Edelstein has extensive experience working on behalf of clients in the Jewish organizational world, developing and implementing strategic communications plans, reports and evaluations, media outreach, key message platforms, and a range of communications and marketing materials. About Edelstein Public Affairs and Jason
At Edelstein Public Affairs, Jason and his team work primarily in the Jewish education and philanthropic arenas.
From 2010 – 2012, Jason served as Communications Director for Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor, a research institution that works to increase transparency of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) claiming a human rights mandate in the Middle East. While helping to guide the organization in critical policy areas, Jason also managed NGO Monitor’s international media relations, marketing, and event planning, and spoke to numerous audiences. His op-eds appeared in the New York Post, The Australian, Jerusalem Post, Ha’aretz, JTA, YNet, and The Jewish Week.
While with Porter Novelli, an international public relations and public affairs agency, Jason co-managed campaigns and projects for the California Chamber of Commerce, the Public Policy Institute of California, and numerous ballot propositions and initiatives.
He oversaw a $1 million annual budget for a non-profit clean air organization, including the implementation of Clean Air Business Expositions and grant programs. He also led a highly successful media outreach and coalition building effort for a winning ballot campaign, securing the endorsement of more than 15 newspaper editorials throughout California.
Jason was awarded a 2008 – 2009 Legacy Heritage Fellowship and served as a fellow at the American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) Office of Government and International Affairs in Washington, DC. Among many projects and events, Edelstein co-managed AJC’s “Diplomatic Marathon” at the United Nations General Assembly, which consisted of more than 60 meetings with foreign diplomats and government officials.
Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Jason obtained a B.A. in Political Science and Communications from the University of Washington. He received his M.A. in Israeli Society and Politics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Rothberg International School. He and his wife, Leah, live in Oakland, CA with their daughters, Shoshana and Miri.
